Welcome, Superheroes! Here you can find each day's plan to help you follow the passage and crafts.

Day One

Passage:  Mark 1:9-11

 The Banana Girls Challenge:
Today’s challenge is to walk as far as you can with a piece of fruit  or veg on your head.    The Banana Girls obviously use bananas but you could use a carrot or courgette or cucumber or anything you want.  How far can you get balancing fruit or veg or your head?

 Craft Suggestions:
Today’s crafts are all about customising your Superhero costume.    We’d love you to be as creative as you can.   Here are some ideas:
   1. Design a logo or symbol for your Superhero.  Can you make a badge and using a safety pin attach your symbol to a top?
   2. Use a paper plate and some ribbon or elastic to make a Superhero mask.
   3. If your Superhero is an animal perhaps you could make Superhero ears.  All you’ll need is a headband and some paper or card.
   4. What about a Superhero cape?   You could attach ribbons to an old t-shirt and you’ll create a cape effect or simply pin a blanket          or tea towel to your top using safety pins.

We’d love to see some of your incredible outfits.  Do send photos to kathryn.jackson@cornerstonechurch.org.uk

Day Two

Passage:  Mark 2:1-12

The Banana Girls Challenge:

Today the Banana Girls were challenged to build a tower of slices of banana.   They tried to see how high they could get their tower.   You could use bananas, carrots, cucumber or any fruit or veg to do this challenge.   Just remember to ask a grown-up to slice the fruit or veg up first.

 Craft Suggestion:

Sticking with the fruit and veg theme today’s craft suggestion is to make a fruit or veg Superhero.
You’ll need to choose a piece of fruit or veg.   Then you could make a mask or shorts for your Superhero using tape.   You’ll need to stick some eyes on.   You could use googly eyes or maybe even draw eyes on with a permanent marker.    Maybe you could use some paper to make a cape for your fruit or veg Superhero.   If you want to give it arms or legs then you could use pipe cleaners, matchsticks or straws.

Don’t forget to give your Superhero a name!

Day Three

Passage:  Mark 8:22-31

The Banana Girls Challenge

Today the Banana Girls challenged themselves to transform into superheroes in under a minute!  Can you get your superhero costume on in less than a minute?   Why don’t you try and get ready as quickly as they do?

Craft Suggestions

Today’s craft suggestions are all about Superheroes flying.   There are three different suggestions for making superheroes fly:

  1. You’ll need paper, scissors, glue, a pen and a straw to make these amazing flying superheroes.

  1. Or what about a classic paper aeroplane adapted to resemble a superhero?

  1. Finally a balloon can be turned into a fantastic flying superhero with only a little creative flair!

Day Four

Passage:  Mark 15:1-39

The Banana Girls Challenge:

Today one of the Banana Girls gets trapped on a chair by lava!  Can the other Banana Girl rescue her?   With the help of newspapers and magazines she can!

Can you rescue someone from molten lava?   Someone in your household needs to pretend that they are trapped on top of a chair or sofa.   You then need to use a couple of magazines or newspapers to make a path across the lava to rescue the person who is trapped.

Craft Suggestion:

Today Gadget Girl makes an edible empty tomb.   To make one yourself you’ll need to bake or buy a sponge cake.   You’ll need some green butter icing, some mini donuts, little biscuits (Oreos work well) and perhaps some sparkles or marshmallows for decoration.

Don’t forget to lick the bowls!

Day Five

Passage:  Mark 10:17-27

The Banana Girls Challenge

Today the Banana Girls challenge each other to impossible tasks.   Without giving too much away, you’ll need a coin and a piece of A4.

Craft Suggestion:

Today Gadget Girl makes a camel.   You’ll need a cardboard egg box, 4 pipe cleaners, some brown cardboard, a bit of paper and some pens.   You will need something sticky too, perhaps Sellotape or, if you have one, a glue gun.  You’ll need a grown-up to help you with some of the cutting too.

Certificate:

Why not download and print out a Superhero Academy certificate?   Fill your Superhero name in the space to prove that you have completed the Superhero Academy.   Well done Cadets, you are now fully-fledged Superheroes!
